Elizabeth "Betty" Douglas was called home by her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Born and raised in Illinois, she moved to Mississippi where she met her husband, Cecil. They eloped on Christmas Day 1947. She was a proud Marine wife and telephone operator. She and Cecil raised three children and cherished their five grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 160 and dedicated member of the Daughters of the King at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Douglas is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Margaret Zoul, and husband, William Cecil Douglas. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Wayne) Savoie, her son, William Joseph (Dorothy) Douglas, her daughter, Barbara (Wayne) Christopher, grandchildren, Michelle and Glen Savoie, William Joseph Douglas Jr., Brittany Nicole Douglas, and Lisa Christopher, seven great grandchildren, her dear cousin, Sue Cadman, and many other close family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Funeral services will start at 2:00 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Reverend Tom Fanning officiating. Internment will conclude on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 10:00 am at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Daughters of the King, St. John's Episcopal Church at 3507 Pine Street, Pascagoula, MS 39567.
