Obituary

Mrs. Imogene Gandy, 92, of Pascagoula, MS passed from this life August 2, 2012. She was born November 6, 1919 in Newton, MS. Mrs. Gandy was a former member of Jackson Avenue Baptist Church and current member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula for many years. She loved flowers, was an avid gardener, and talented sculptor as well. Mrs. Gandy was well known for her great hospitality. Her most recent cherished pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren singing her favorite hymns.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Brown and Mattie Ray Harrison; husband, William Alton Gandy; sisters, Judy, Beatrice, Christine, and Mattie Pearl; and brothers Luther, Malcolm, and Alton.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Dennis (Diane) Gandy of Moss Point; daughters and sons in law, Sharon Colle of Pascagoula; Linda (Gary) Pettey of Hurley; Anita (Brian) Petty of The Bahamas; Susan (Rick) Salmon of Pascagoula; grandchildren, Christy (John) Dickerson of Florence, MS; Cindy (Derek) Pearce of Shreveport, LA; Daniel (Jennifer) Colle of Slidell, LA; Milissa Pettey of Sumrall, MS; Mark (Julie) Pettey of Mobile, AL; Misty (Kenneth) Mears of Hurley; Kelli (John) Freeman of Homestead, FL; Kevin Broadus of Orlando, FL; Mandy (Greg) Flurry of Pascagoula; Rebekkah (David) Arant of Ruleville,MS; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Nena Harrison Baxter of Sedona, AZ; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation for Mrs. Gandy will be Monday, August 6, 2012 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home of Moss Point. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dennis Ray Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Serene Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to thank her faithful caregivers Venita, LaQuita, Wanda, and Brittney; the staff of PDN, Amedisys, Singing River Hospital, and Dr. Randy Roth. Also, words cannot express our deep appreciation to Dr. Thomas McGee of Mobile for his love and care of our mother for over twenty five years.
