Joseph Maurice Donahue, 81 met his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2008. He was surrounded by his family at this home in Helena, MS. Born February 10, 1927 to Joseph Maurice and Helen (Wenslow) Donahue in Nanticoke, PA. Joseph is the brother of Marie (Gene-deceased) Brislin, Tom (Rosie-deceased, Betty) Donahue, and Fran-deceased (Stan) Bodek. He was the grandson of the late Beatrice and Maurice Donahue and Mike and Fran Wesnlow. Joseph is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Carolyn (Luken) Donahue, his seven sons, four daughters, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His youngest great-grandchild, Christopher Russell Taylor, Jr. was born on July 4, 2008. A WWII veteran, Joseph served our country on numerous naval vessels. He was most proud of his work as a Weapons Officer at the Polaris Missle Facility. Joseph retired as a Lieutenant in the United State Navy. He also worked for Ingalls Shipbuilding were he finished out his working career. A lifetime member of the local VFW and IBEW Local 733. He was also an active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, and was deeply involved in the welfare of his community. Joseph enjoyed spending time with family and visiting with his grandchildren. He was a loyal New Orleans Saints fan and enjoyed watching his fighting Irish. He will be missed dearly his his family, special family friend Wendy Marquis, and friends to many to name. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Family viewing from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Friends and all others are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until Prayer of Rosary at 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Mike Austin and Major Lance Hoggatt officiating. Interment will be at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS.
