Mr. Glenn Ray Ryder 83, passed away on May 22,2022 in Lucedale, Mississippi. Glenn was born in Moss Point, Mississippi on November 24,1938 to Charles and Sammie Ryder. He was a resident of Vancleave, Mississippi and a former resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi. He served with pride and dedication as a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for a combined 29 years and with the Jackson County Planning Department for 16 years until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vancleave. Glenn was an avid boater and loved the islands. His passion was light houses and firearms. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and he served in Army National Guard. He enjoyed watching his sons play sports especially baseball.
He was married to the late Joann Ryder, and they had 3 sons.
Along with his wife he is preceded in death by his son Mike Ray Ryder and his parents.
He is survived by his other sons Scott Ryder (Randa) and Sammy Ryder (Laurie) and daughter-in-law Leslie Ryder.
Glenn had 9 grandchildren Whitney Goleman (Ryan), Maya Ryder, Michael Ryder, Carson Ryder, Bailey Ryder, Alexis Ryder, Kaitlyn Ryder, Marina Burri (Ryan) and Seth Ward. He also had 5 great grandchildren Everleigh, Sawyer, Ryder Grace, Sadie and Ryleigh Sue. Other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 31,2022 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main Street Moss Point, Mississippi 39563. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm from the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow at Machpelah cemetery with Law Enforcement Honors provided by the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
The family would like to thank the Sparrow Hills Assisted Living Home in Lucedale for taking such great care of Glenn while he was in their care and also a special thanks to Southern Care Hospice for their care and compassion.
