The Pascagoula River lost a great friend on Saturday, May 9, 2015 as Ferrell Jerry Stuart, Sr., 71 of Moss Point went home to be with the Lord. He was born January 10, 1944 in Meridian and worked as a pipefitter for Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula for many years. Jerry spent much of his life hunting and fishing on the river with his family and many friends. He was a great outdoorsman and considered the Pascagoula River his home. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Bolivar Page Stuart and Bessie Mae Hudson Joiner; a brother, Earl Stuart; and two infant brothers. Survivors include his children, Kristy Thornhill and husband Paul, Ferrell Stuart, Jr. and fiancee Roxanne, Mary Alice Stuart and Milton Edward "Eddie" Stuart; brothers and sisters, Bobby and Helen Stuart, Bonnie and Frank Shivers, Kaye and Leland Grimes, Charlotte and Slayton Rice, Willie Weir, Sylvia and Carl Smith, Linda and Daniel Bacon and Kathy and Robert Burnett; half-brother, William R. Joiner; grandchildren, Justin Cole Thornhill, Shelby Lynn Thornhill, William Chad Smith, Brently Caleb Stuart, Brandon Chase Smith; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Breanne Smith, Anthony Thornhill, Landon Thornhill and Hunter Brian Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00PM at Coastal Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00AM from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tim Maines, Rev. Frank Shivers and Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Thornhill, Jamie Hardin, Stacey Doggett, Ronnie Smith, Jack Smith and Danny Bacon.
