Alton S Hilyer, Sr., 93 years old, departed this life on April 5, 2021. Alton was born in Chilton County, AL on Sept 13, 1927, to the late Joseph Robert & Viola Mae Hilyer.
Alton served our great country in WW2, as a member of the United States Army. He later married his wife of 53 years, the late Belinda Jeanette Hilyer. He was an avid fisherman, a Dog River Bassmaster, a Mason in the Pascagoula Lodge, a member of the Elks BPOE 1120 of Pascagoula and a lifelong member of Parkway Baptist Church.
Along with his parents and late wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Hilyer & Marvin O Hilyer, and daughter, Anita Marie Hicks.
He is survived by his son, Alton S Hilyer, Jr., and daughters Loxie O Lipscomb, Brenda Sue Richards, and Tonya (Joe) Wagner. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mark Hilyer, Kimberly Hiyler, Jason Pirtle, Elesha Rollyson, Natasha McGoldrick, Tamica-Lyn Foster, Jessica Richards, Tracy Kendall, Michele Erickson and Sara Lester, Jenna (Josh) Hamilton and Jeremy (Lindsey) Pitts. Also, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday April 8,2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main Street Moss Point, Mississippi 39563. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Bro. Vince Smith officiating. Entombment will follow Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Pallbearers are Josh Hamilton, Jonathan Krchak, L R Couch, Mike McAdams, Tommy Vick & Robert Hilyer.
