Annie Mae Walters, age 93, of Ellisville, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Jones County Rest Home in Ellisville.
Annie was born on April 3, 1931, in Grove Hill, Alabama, to the late William Alex and Olive Eileen (Glenn) Andrews. Moving around from city to city the family ended up residing in Jackson County, MS.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lee Donas Walters, and her children: daughters Evelyn Stewart and Martha Walters, sons David Walters and James Walters, and grandchildren Donald Bruggeman and Lisa Byrd.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Creel, Georgia Hacker, Bonnie (Louis) Ryan, and Laura Herman (Tom), her brother Richard Andrews, and her sister Mary Bondy. Annie is also proud to have 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, alongside many family and friends who will honor her memory.
Annie was raised in Jackson County, MS, where she married her husband, Lee Donas Walters, and embraced her role as a homemaker and baker. She had a passion for baking delightful cakes for various bake sales and nurtured her beautiful rose garden with dedication. Annie found joy in spending time at her kitchen table, relishing the beauty of nature. Her favorite quote embodies her spirit: "Don't shed any tears for me here; let me meet you over there."
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Abundant Life Center, in Gautier, MS, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, led by Shelia Jenkins. The pallbearers will be Jacob Ryan, Aaron Malone, Christopher Yingling, Corey Shepard, David Walters, and Brandon Holcom, with honorary pallbearer Jeff Hacker. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 PM in Biloxi, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
