Arthur Lamar Broadus, aged 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
Lamar was born in Moss Point, Mississippi, on July 3, 1940, to Dwight and Ellen Broadus. Family was always important to Lamar as he loved spending quality time with his loved ones. Lamar made his career at Ingalls Shipbuilding as an Inside Machinist where he later retired. He took immense personal pride in his contributions at Ingalls. Lamar loved the simple things. He loved tinkering in his shop, spending time with his kids and grandkids, and watching old western movies. Lamar married the love of his life, Micki, on June 17, 1967. They were married for 50 years before Micki was called home by her heavenly father.
Lamar was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joe; his sisters, Martha (Luther) Tanner and Dwynelle Broadus; the love of his life, Mary "Micki" Broadus; and his daughter, Alisha Martin.
Lamar is survived by his son, Jason (Linda) Broadus; son-in-law, Richard Martin; granddaughter, Kaila (Chris) Fryou; grandson, Trey (Sydney Gower) Martin; great grandson, Noah Fryou; great granddaughter, Bexleigh Fryou; sister, Rowena (John) McGallagher; his four-legged friends, Lele and Lady; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Deaconess Hospice and to nurse Angela for the compassion, patience, and loving care that brought Lamar comfort in his final months.
Family and Friends are invited to honor Lamar's life at a service being held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Holder Wells Funeral home, Coastal Chapel, located at 12800 Highway 613, Moss Point, MS 39562. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am and burial will take place immediately following at Broadus Cemetery.
