Mrs. Avis Brooks Hinson, 94, of Wade, Mississippi, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, in Slidell, Louisiana.
She was born on December 3, 1926, in Wade, Mississippi to Coyt and Moddie Kelly Brooks.
Mrs. Hinson was Valedictorian of her senior class of 1941 at Wade High School. She met her husband, C.D. Hinson, Jr., at Singing River Hospital where she worked as a medical records clerk, and he was a patient. She enjoyed flower arranging and was a member of the Moss Point Garden Club, serving as a past President. She was an amazing baker and coffee maker.
Mrs. Hinson was a devoted member of Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church before her illness. She loved and enjoyed her family and the self-given title of Nana. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin D. Hinson, Jr., Sister, Anna Lene Brooks, and brother, Thomas "Dale" Brooks.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene (Rick) Rawle, three grandchildren, Matthew (Christie) Rawle, Melanie (Josh) St. Cyr, and Megan (Greg) Stafford. 8 Great-grandchildren, Emma St. Cyr, Isabelle Rawle, Audrie St. Cyr, Annaleigh Rawle, Cecilia Rawle, Jack Stafford, Robert Rawle, and William St. Cyr. Visitation will be held Monday, July 19, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Dantzler Memorial United Methodist Church, 4912 Weems St., Moss Point, MS. 39563. The funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. from the church sanctuary with Rev. David Huffman and, Rev. Matthew Rawle officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point.
