Miss Barbara Alberta Griffin went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2020. She was the third born child in Agricola, MS to Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Minnie Griffin of Moss Point on December 16, 1932. She was handicapped by mental abilities here on earth, but she now soars on heights of mountainous terrain.
Alberta attended schools in Lucedale, MS, Fairhope, AL, and Moss Point. She especially loved playing board games with her younger siblings. After her parents passed away, she came to depend upon Adell, her younger sister, to take care of her needs.
Adell sold the homestead and reserved the money for her care. She bought Alberta a mobile home and situated it close to downtown Moss Point and the Baptist Church where the Griffin family were members. Adell picked her up to go buy groceries, clothing, and other supplies. Unfortunately, her trailer was destroyed by a hurricane.
Her sister then found an apartment complex in Pascagoula and she was happy to have her own housing again. She lived there until she became dissatisfied with the harassment of neighboring children who loved in the complex. Adell got some good advice from her doctor who recommended a close by nursing home.
She is survived by her sister, Adell Miles and husband Jimmy; brother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Griffin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Minnie Griffin, and 2 brothers, Forrest and Eltroy Griffin.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020, at 10 AM, at Serene Memorial Gardens, 12800 Highway 613, Moss Point, with Bro. Matt Morse officiating.
