Barbara Kibby Tanner, 88, of Wade, MS, passed peacefully on December 1, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to the late HW and Ethel Kibby on March 16, 1937, in Wade, MS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Odell Tanner; children, Milton Odell Tanner, Emmett Edwin Tanner, and Jackie Kibby; grandson, Jerron Curtis Green; and siblings, Sidney Kibby, Eddie Kibby, Vernal Kibby, Vencil Kibby, Don Kibby, Bertha Hanna, and Bertie Talbert.
Barbara is survived by her children, Janie (Thomas) Green, and Marcus Tanner; sister, Clara Moesch; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; lifelong friends Norman Frazier, Pauline Dickens, C. D. Hudson, Lizzy Glasscox; and many nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
She had many joys in life, including Hunting, fishing, sewing, and spending time with her grandkids and adopted grandbabies Fletcher and Owen. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, reading her Bible daily, and was an avid blood donor and gave to Saint Jude's. Barbara was a proud member of the Republican Party.
Barbara was a plain-spoken ol' woman. She would give you the shirt off her back and wouldn't expect anything in return. She was a big staple to her community.
