Mrs. Betty L. Southern 81 of Forts Lake passed away on May 15,2019 in Moss Point.Mrs. Southern was born on January 25,1938 in Grand Bay, AL. She attended East Side Assembly of God Church, she enjoyed working in her yard and going to the mountains.
She is preceded in death by her husband Vernon Southern, her son Tony Southern, her parents Leroy and Maude Poole and her siblings Eula V. McDuffee, Elvin Poole, Leroy Poole Jr., Kenneth Poole, and Darlene Finley.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Sue Southern of Ocean Springs, her daughter-in-law Claudette Southern of Pascagoula, her grandchildren Russell Jennings II, of Ocean Springs, Victoria Jennings of Biloxi, Charles Southern of Escatawpa, Hunter Southern of Pascagoula and Kellie Davis of Escatawpa. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Billie (James) Franke of Pascagoula, Leon McDuffee of Helena, Michael (Teresa) McDuffee of Pascagoula, Nathan (Vickie) Poole of Bayou Cumbest, Archie Poole of Orange Grove, her cousin Ernestine Jones of Grand Bay, her special friends Ida Mae Harris, Arlene Johnson and Darrell (Sugarman) Poole all from Forts Lake. She also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren and other relatives.
Visitation for Mrs. Southern will be Saturday May 18,2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home at 4007 Main Street Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wendell Stork officiating. Burial will follow in Orange Grove cemetery.
