HAGGARD Mrs. Betty Joyce Wooten Haggard, 87, of Pascagoula, MS passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Pascagoula, MS. Mrs. Haggard was born October 23, 1935, in Kosciusko, MS. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister by choice.
Everyone that knew Betty had the pleasure of knowing a woman who had a spirited heart full of kindness and compassion. Her days were filled with singing her favorite karaoke song,"Break It to Me Gently" by Juice Newton, reading books by James Patterson, camping in the RV with Bud, and enjoying boat rides on beautiful, sunny days, Whether laughs were shared, or tears were shed, Betty's quick wit and love for life allowed her to make new memories at every
opportunity.
She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Pascagoula, MS. She is survived by her husband, William "Bud" Haggard, and predeceased in death by her former husband, Jewell Bishop "J.B." Wooten; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph (Otis) Payne; and her daughter, Mrs. Jeanne (Charlie) Mann. She is survived in death by her children, Mr. and Mrs. David (Michelle) Wooten, Mrs. Karen (Sam) Fortenberry, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Joy) Wooten; sister-in-law, Brenda (Phil) Purvis; grandchildren; Ms. Elaina (Jason Lawshe) Mann, Mrs.
Amber (David) Phelps, Mrs. Carrie (Burl) LaBatte, Mrs. Tera (Pete) Bains, Mrs. Shonda (Chad) Bourn, Mr. Cole (Summer Roberts) Wooten, and Mr. Alec (Taylor) Newton; great-grandchildren, Mrs. Ashley (Hunter) Harrison, Ms. Billie Jean (Eddie Byrd) Carter, Amelia Phelps, Lorelai Phelps, Leah LaBatte, Jack Bains, Henry Bains, Cohen Bourn, and Case Bourn; great, great-grandchildren, Walker Byrd and Jacob Harrison.
Visitation will be held at Holder Wells Funeral Home on Monday, March 6 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Phelps officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Ocean Springs, MS. Pallbearers include David Wooten (son), Joe Wooten (son), Chad Bourn (grandson-in-law), Jason Lawshe (family friend), Nicky Maxwell (family friend), and Bobby Jackson (family friend).
A special thanks would like to be extended to Inhabit Hospice-especially Ms. Angie Warner-for all they have done for the family and our precious Betty. The family would like to invite all family and friends to the services.
Family is God's gift to us, and this beautiful woman that now walks with the Lord will forever be in our hearts. We will miss you greatly, for you have filled our lives with happiness and love.
