Obituary

Captain Frank Dixon, 91, of Moss Point, Mississippi peacefully left this world to be with the Lord on Monday January 30th, 2023. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia on April 9th, 1931. He began his career as a commercial menhaden fisherman, aboard the W.R. Rowe in 1952. He was promoted to captain in 1958. He and his wife, Thelma, relocated to Moss Point in 1966. In 1967, he gave his life and heart to the Lord, and served him faithfully for 56 years. He served as a deacon at Ridglea Heights Baptist Church for most of those years. He was known as Honey, Captain Frank, Bro. Frank, Daddy, or Pap by those who loved him. He lived his life for the Lord and his family. He was a proud American who loved his country. His strength and altruistic spirit is cherished by those who knew him. He was a well-known and respected captain, deacon, and trusted friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed. The dinner table won't be the same without him saying the blessing. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Pauline Dixon, sons Donnie Dixon and Robin Dixon, daughter in law Donna Dixon, brothers Henry Dixon, Clarence Dixon, Larry (Ruth) Dixon, and sisters Margaret (Jack) Martin, Clara Dixon, Nettie (Lester) Stine, Helen (Lee) Allen, Delores (Stuart) Hummel, and Sandra (Timothy) Heineck. He is survived by Thelma, his loving wife of 73 years, sons Frank "Chunks" (Mary) Dixon Jr. William "Bill" Dixon, Richard "Dickie" Dixon, and Leonard "Lenny" (Ann) Dixon, grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Hinkel , Bryan Dixon, Kevin (Jenny) Dixon, Stephanie (John) Womack, Christina (Andy) Lucas, Ashley Dixon, Ricky (Marleah) Dixon, Andy Dixon, Talyn Brittinee (Shea) Dunn, Tristan Dixon, Drew (Amanda) Dixon, 30 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, special friends, and his church family. The pallbearers will be the deacons from Ridglea Heights. A visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, from 11:00AM-12:00PM at Ridglea Heights Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow beginning at 12:00PM with Bro. Steve Cirlot officiating.
