Charles Higginbotham was born in the Delta but had made George County his home for nearly forty years. He died in an accident on July 25 in Lucedale at the age of 86.
Charles was preceded by his wife of 67 years Carlene Higginbotham, sons Wendell, Dewaryne, Andy and Tony Higginbotham. Parents, Floyd and Lillian Higginbotham.
Charles is survived by his four brothers and their wives: Floyd and Effie Higginbotham, Broookhaven, MS., Wesley and Dot Higginbotham, Sylacauga, AL, Hilton and Linda Higginbotham, Lucedale, and Carlton and Ellen Higginbotham, Lucedale and numerous nieces and nephews, Charles worked at Coastal Chemical till they closed.
He then served as maintenance man at Rocky Creek Elementary and then at George Co. High School. At those jobs he put to use the many skills he had to fix and build things. In his third career, Charles operated Golf Cart Sales and Service with his brother Carlton, If anyone needed anything fixed or rebuilt, they knew to call on Charles.
Finally, Charles retired to tend his yard and gardens. He enjoyed reading and spoiling his little dog buddy, Chip. Charles will be missed by his brothers and Chip, as well as other family and neighbors and friends.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 3rd at 2:00 pm in the multipurpose room at Barton Baptist Church 2202 MS-63S Lucedale, MS 39452.
