Obituary

Mr. Charles "Charlie" C. Lasater, age 94, of Pascagoula, MS. passed away on October 5, 2010 in Pascagoula. He was born on January 17, 1916 in Knoxville, TN. Charles was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and taught engineering there for a number of years. He relocated to Florida in 1963 and was employed in the space program. He later retired from Quality Control at General Electric. He was active in Pasadena Community Church as well as the Episcopal Church in Florida before moving to Pascagoula in June, 2005. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Pascagoula, the Gulf Beach Lodge, No. 291, F&AM in Madiera Beach, FL, Egypt Temple in Tampa, Fl. And the Tri-Cities Shrine Club in St. Petersburg, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jessie Crawford Lasater, his brother, Edward Lasater, his beloved first wife, Helen P. Lasater, and his stepson, Capt. William E. Baker. He is survived by his wife, Judge Emily Baker of Pascagoula, MS. his daughter, Barbara (David) Vogler of Live Oak, TX. his son, James (Kimberly) Lasater of Redington Beach, FL. stepdaughters, Carryl Watts, Pascagoula, MS. and Linda Frame, Anaheim, CA. two stepsons, Capt. Robert T. (Alice) Baker, and Charles W. Baker, grandchildren, David and Laura Vogler, Jesse, Jamie and Jeremy Lasater, step-grandchildren, Seth, Troy, and Andrew Baker, Justin Simpson, Emily and Allison Watts, Sara and Ross Baker, and Shannon Frame. A celebration of his life with Father Harry Hughes and Father Dennis Ryan officiating, will be held at St. John?s Episcopal Church in Pascagoula, MS. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00am. A reception will be held following the service in the Parish Hall. Charles? remains will be moved to Florida where a memorial service will be held in St. Petersburg at Pasadena Community Church, October 22, 2010 with a reception in Hamilton Hall which will be followed by a Masonic Burial Service held by the Gulf Beach Lodge at Royal Palm Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Rita and Wayne Myrick and the staff of Myrick's Personal Care Homes in Helena and Pascagoula for the loving care they have given to Charlie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charlie?s name to the Charles C. Lasater Memorial Fund, Mechanical Engineering Dept. 1512 Middle Dr. University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN 37996.
