In Tribute to Collin Nicholi Flint
On August 30th, 2019 our shining light was taken from us without warning. Collin Nicholi Flint (Bubba to his parents and sisters) was our tall candle whose brightness shone into the lives of his family and friends each day. Collin was born September 24, 1997 at Singing River Hospital and was baptized into the Christian faith at First Baptist Church in Moss Point, MS at the age of nine. From an early age he faced challenges in his life that would have defeated most people. Collin not only survived those challenges, but he overcame them to become a wonderful person and a fine young man whom we deeply love. His example of perseverance, kindness, and compassion lifted and inspired all whose lives he touched. Collin was blessed to have a loving and beautiful fiancé, Riley Palmer. After dating for many years, they were planning their lives and family together when this tragedy struck. They were the love of each other's lives, soul mates and best friends.
After graduating with Honors from Ocean Springs High School, Collin was working full time while studying electrical/mechanical engineering at his beloved Mississippi State University. He had recently begun a course of study at Ms. Gulf Coast Junior College in 3-D design and would have graduated in two semesters. He was excited about beginning his professional career, starting a family, and doing lots more fishing. He loved the outdoors and the time spent there with his Dad (Pops), Poppy, other family members and legions of friends. Collin's gentle personality, sense of humor, his courteous ways, good looks and charm only complimented his authentic and genuine care and concern for others. He was a genuine joy and pleasure to be around. In his final act of love and concern for others, Collin's decision to be an organ donor will now give others the opportunity to live their lives that might have otherwise been lost.
As tributes and testimonials of love and friendship flowed in from those he touched, they were filled with words such as "wonderful, great friend, beautiful smile, mentor, kind, considerate, funny, practical, dependable, loving, selfless, charming, and gentle" These beautiful sentiments , and the prayers of all those who have reached out to our family, has lifted us up and filled our hearts with gratitude and joy. We are all blessed that such a good young man had graced our lives and those of so many others. His light will always shine down on those he touched.
Although our hearts are broken and our lives will never be the same, the light that Collin gave us will never be dimmed by time or space. And Collin's legacy of victory over adversity will not be lost. Quite the opposite, his example will motivate us to work harder, love more and overcome the challenges that life throws at all of us. While the hole left in our lives will never be filled, we will take the blow and soldier on, as Collin would have us do. And we will lift one another up with the love and joy that Collin showed us and lived while he was here with us. And as surely as the sun rises, Collin is now in the arms of God,. he is now with his family that went before him and is preparing a place for us for that great day of reunion that will bring us all back together "Just Beyond the Moon".
Collin is survived by: his fiancé Riley Palmer and her parents Ray and Alyssa Stewart. His Father Kenneth "Dale" Flint Jr. (Tina "Mama T"), His Mother Amy Nicole Camp (Tommy), Sisters Chandler Leighanne Shimp and Alexandra (Jade) Flint, Step-Sisters Lauren Gaudet (Aaron) and Calleigh Camp; Step-Brothers Aaron Camp and Brendon Camp, Paternal Grandfather Kenneth Dale Flint "Poppy" (Mary "Me Me"), Paternal Grandmother Kathy McMahon (Grandma), Maternal Grandfather Joseph Scott Ducote (Jean "Neanie"), and Maternal Grandmother Joyce Lynn Ducote (Mamaw); Collin is also survived by Aunts Randa Williams (Matt), Melanie Sossaman (Jeff), and Uncle Patrick Ducote (Kristi), nephew Mason Gaudet and niece Lennox Gaudet; First Cousins Taylor Williams, Taylor Rabon, Weston Rabon, Jeffrey Sossaman, Annie Sossaman, and Luke Ducote and numerous other Great Aunts, Uncles, Second Cousins, other family members and friends. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rest In Peace now dear Collin until we are together again. We love and miss you.
