Mrs. Connie Mae Brister Clark left her earthly home surrounded by those dearest to her heart and entered heaven's gates to be with her Lord and Savior for all eternity. She was also met there by her husband James Carl Clark. She was born on March 6,1927 in Lawrence County, MS. She was blessed with a loving family that included her mother and father, Sarah Elizabeth Dunaway Brister and Connie C. Brister (Deceased).
Her family was comprised of three brothers Purvis C. Brister (Deceased), Clayton Brister (Deceased) Ervin Dean Brister (Deceased) all from Jayess, MS; three sisters Azemmer Brister Coon (Deceased) Jayess,MS; Izettie Brister Carney (Deceased) Pascagoula, MS; and Joyce Brister Honea, Magnolia, MS. A special part of their family was a baby girl, deceased at birth.
Mrs. Clark extended family included Carl's sisters Roda Clark Boyd (Deceased) of Lincoln County, MS; Ruby Clark Brister of Lincoln County, MS; and Odean Clark Wilkes of Richland, WA.
Connie Brister and James Carl Clark were united in marriage by Judge Earl Burns in Brookhaven, MS in 1944. They were married 60 years and were blessed with two daughters: Brenda Clark Sumrall Newcomb (Deceased); Geraldine Clark Bitowf (Deceased).
Mrs. Connie graduated from Topeka High School in 1944. She trained as a practical nurse at King's Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven, MS. Connie used her training as a nurse's aide at the Jackson County Health Department in Pascagoula, MS. She served faithfully the citizens of Jackson County for twenty-two years before retiring for health reasons.
She was a long-time member of Escatawpa Baptist Church. When she was no longer able to attend worship services due to ill health, her church family continued to make her feel a part of her home church with cards and visits.
Connie is survived by her grandchildren Wayne and Melissa Sumrall of Mobile County, Danny Sumrall of Pascagoula, MS; Donna Sumrall Vaughan and husband Chris of Hurley, MS; Dennis Bitowf Jr. of Kerney, NE. Her great grandchildren Chase Vaughan, of Hurley, MS; Caleb Vaughan and his wife Laura of Oxford, MS; Christian Davis and his wife Kindal of Mobile, AL; Ryan Sumrall of Ocean Springs, MS; Her great great grandchildren, Ellen Elizabeth Vaughan, Geneva Grace Vaughan, Lucy Lewis Vaughan and Benjamin Artis Davis they were her very special angels that brought her great joy.
Visitation will be Saturday September 10,2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main Street Moss Point, MS 39563. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am in funeral home chapel with burial following at Serene Gardens Cemetery 12800 Hwy 613 Moss Point, MS 39562.
