Mr. Denzil Hayes Harrison, 87, of Helena, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, in Helena.
He was born on May 13, 1935, in Neshoba County, Mississippi, to Vester Hayes Harrison and Hazel Hayes Garrison.
Mr. Harrison retired from the MS. Export Railroad, where he was better known as "Skeeter", after 28 years of service. He was also a member of the Masonic Freemason Lodge.
Denzil's greatest gift was being and giving his all to his family. If all of his family was taken care of, he was a happy man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester, and Hazel Harrison, one daughter, Kathy Lundy, and his brother, Harold Harrison.
Denzil is survived by his devoted wife, Mazie Eckhoff Harrison, and four daughters: Kay (Danny) Browne, Karen Moore, Kelly (David) Weatherly, and Karla Harrison. Three sisters, Sheliah (Herbie) Crook,Sue Harrison and Annette King , son-in-law, Ira Lundy. Seven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery in Helena, MS, with Rev. Derek Kennedy officiating.
