It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Doris Jean Young, age 71, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, who left us on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her home.

Doris was born on August 2, 1953, in Chance, Alabama, to her loving parents, Eugene and Ida Mae Taite McConnell. She dedicated a part of her life to serving in the United States Air Force, and her vibrant spirit brought joy to everyone around her. Doris cherished every moment, whether she was at the casino or, most importantly, enjoying the time spent with her beloved grandsons. She truly was the best grandma anyone could ask for.

She is now reunited with her father, Eugene McConnell; her mother, Ida Mae McConnell; her brother, Odis McConnell; and her sister, Barbara Ann Vandavier, all of whom she missed dearly.
Doris leaves behind her loving daughters, Tracy M. Armstead and Shametia S. Jordan, along with her son, Jiovianti E. Young, and her dear grandsons, Jaron Palombi, Cameron Johnson, and Bryan Jordan. Her memory will forever be held close in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
