Dorothy Virginia Bartlett, 102, of Oxford, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, in Oxford. She was born on June 21, 1922, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Walter H. Abernathy and Virginia Cross Abernathy.
Formerly of Moss Point, Mississippi, Dorothy was a teacher for the Pascagoula and Moss Point School district and taught in New Hampshire.
Dorothy enjoyed reading and being a homemaker. She was also active in the Calvary Baptist Church in Pascagoula.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erwin Wade Bartlett, Sr., and her daughter-in-law, Freida Irene Schuck Bartlett.
Survivors include two sons, Erwin Wade Bartlett, Jr., and Ronald Edward Bartlett (Lucy)
5 grandchildren, Charles C. Bartlett, Mary B. Robinson, Benjamin D. Bartlett, Mary Virginia Clause, and Martin Bartlett. 4 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
The Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Serene Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 12800 Hwy 613, Moss Point, Mississippi 39562, with Rev. Roger Bradley officiating
