Mr. Edmond "Bo" Shields, Sr., 87 of Helena, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was born on November 20, 1935, in Belzoni, Mississippi, to Francis "Bilbo" Shields and Grace Wilks Shields. "Bo" was well known in the Community of Helena. He was the owner and operator of Shields Septic Tank Service since 1969. After his family, his business was his life. He loved to work. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Helena and enjoyed spending time with his church family of friends. He was a member, and past Grand Master, 32nd degree Mason of Moss Point Masonic Lodge # 202, and A Shriner of Gulfport.
In addition to his parents, "Bo" was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Shields, grandson, Ian O'Brien, two sisters, Jeanette Inebinet, and Juaiweice Miller, son-in-law, Jerry Lynn Western Sr., and daughter-in-law, Joy Shields.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Iris Faye Shields, daughter, Judith Western, and two sons, Sam (Sis) Shields, and Mike (Robin Renault) Shields. Eight grandchildren, Jerry Lynn (April) Western, Jr., Ashley (Kelsey) Perry, Brandi Shields, Traci (Steve) Young, Jenna (Brandon) King, Jessica Jordan, Katie (Jerod) Purvis. And 12 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Hunter, Danilynn, Breelynn, Chloe, Kelcy, Wyatt, Harper, Christian, Oliver, Luke, and Noah. Two brothers, Billy Joe Shields, and Charles "Bama" (Linda) Shields. Sister, Mary Kane Johnston, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Judy Thompson.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Holder Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS., 39563. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rodney Coleman and Rev. Bill Parmer officiating. Serving as pallbearers; Gary Turner, Cliff Miller, Jr., Rick Miller, Billy Shields, Robert (Bubba) Shields, and Herman Gentry. The burial will be at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa.
