Mrs. Edna Ann Stubblefield Bates, 90, of Pascagoula, Mississippi passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at her home in Pascagoula.
She was born on February 1, 1932, in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Fountain Y. Stubblefield, Sr., and Mary Spell Stubblefield.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Bates was a retired school teacher from the Pascagoula school system.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Rudolph Bates, 3 brothers, Fountain Y. Stubblefield, Jr., Thomas W. Stubblefield, and Simon S. Stubblefield. 2 sisters, Florence Lyles, and Mary Carraway.
Survivors include her children, Mary L. Bates, Thomas Y. Bates, and James D. (Sami Gray) Bates. 8 grandchildren, Jamie (Allen) Tubb, Cassie (Ronnie) Hughes, Sabrina (Clint) Weeks, Jerrod T. Bates, Clayton Bates, Jimmy Bates, Emily G. Bates, and Max Bates. 11 Great-grandchildren. Sisters in law, Margie Stubblefield, and Patricia Stubblefield, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS, 39563.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bates will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Wilkenson officiating. Serving as pallbearers are: Jerrod T. Bates, Clayton E. Bates, James S.G. Bates, John Carraway, Ronnie Hughes, Allen Tubb. Honorary pallbearers, Steve Marks, and Maximus D.G. Bates. Burial will be at Jackson County Memorial Park, Pascagoula, MS.
