On September 12, 2023, Edward Pittman, Jr., went to be with the Lord, following his battle with cancer.
He was born in Biloxi, MS, on January 7th, 1951.
Edward graduated from East Central High School in 1969, where he was known to most of his classmates as "Hawgman". He married the love of his life, Cheryl Dobbs Pittman, in July of 1981. He was a caring, and supportive, father to his children, and the best PawPaw ever to his grandsons.
He was always one quick comment, from making you laugh. What a difference he made in so many lives. There are many things Edward loved and will always remind us of him: Ole Miss and East Central sports, the simple things in life, and his love for the Lord. He also had a great love for his church family at Ridglea Heights Baptist, and his many friends who meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Pittman, Sr., and Alice Wright Pittman. He is survived by his wife Cheryl of 42 "wonderful" years; his children Kendall Pittman-Anderson and Logan Pittman;
his grandsons, Collin Anderson, and Connor Anderson; his sister Irene (Robert) Webb and brother Edgar (Judy) Pittman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved very much. He is also survived by Aunt Linda and Charlene Dobbs.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the care given by Hospice of Light, up to, and during his journey Home. Special thanks to Lisa, Johnese, Emily, and Bro. Branden. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to their church family at Ridglea Heights, for the encouragement, prayers, cards, calls, and 'good food'. There will be a Celebration of Life, at Ridglea Heights Baptist, on Friday, September 15, 2023, with visitation starting at 3:00 pm, with the service following at 4:00 pm. During the service, the family would love to encourage anyone that would like to share any memories or thoughts, in remembrance of Edward.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Edgar and Judy Pittman's grandson.
Holder-Wells Funeral Home is honored to serve the Pittman family.
