Mrs. Esther Lynd Smith, 86 of Escatawpa passed away January 18th, 2010 in Pascagoula. Mrs. Smith was born December 10, 1923 in Jackson County. She was a retired Illistrator from Ingalls Shipbuilding and served in many capacities with the Alabama Board of Education. Mrs. Smith was a member of Escatawpa Baptist Church and taught the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Maud Dickson Lynd ; two brothers, Loren "Runt" Lynd and H.V. "Legs" Lynd; and a sister, Laverne Broadus.Survivors include her husband, Hayward Smith of Escatawpa; daughters and sons in law, Gayle Lavender of Pelham, AL, C.J. (Bruce) Bower of Fort Worth, TX, Fran (Lynn) McClain of Clanton, AL; son and daughter in law, Joshua (Bonnie L.) Smith of Pascagoula; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; six nieces, one nephew, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20th from Escatawpa Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Bowen officiating. Interment will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula. Pallbearers will be Zachery J. Babb, Jay Paul Babb, Joshua Aaron Smith, Andrew Caleb Smith, Adam Matthew Smith and David Graham. Arrangements by Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, MS
