Etta Mae Miles Verbeke, 95, of Lucedale, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, in Lucedale. She was born on August 12, 1928, in Jackson County, Mississippi to Dantzler James Miles and Mary Nettie Miles.
Etta Mae was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed singing and listening to Karaoke at the nursing home, playing Bingo, dominos and was always ready for a trip to the casino. But most of all she loved being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Grierson Verbeke, Sr., and 3 brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her children, Carl G. Verbeke, Jr., Phyllis (Gerald) Pickich, and Terri (Terry) Bounds. Grandchildren, Chris C. Verbeke, Missy (Will) Jayroe, Chasity Pickich, Brad (Ashley) Pickich, Justin Bounds, and Hanna (Justin) Grafton. 11 Great-grandchildren, and her sister, Sybil Bryant, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins. Devoted friend, J.C. Hansen. The family wishes to thank the staff at Glen Oaks Nursing Home in Lucedale for the excellent care and attention given to our mother and grandmother for the past 5 years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 1-2 p.m. at Holder Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS 39563. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Crews officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Evan Pickich, David Thompson, Brad Pickich, Justin Grafton, Jimmy Wheat, and Cade Collier. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Bounds and Carsten Collier. The burial will be at Union Cemetery, Moss Point, MS.
