Mr. Farris Guy Griffin, 83, of Lucedale, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, in Pascagoula. He was born on January 4, 1940, in Okaloma, Mississippi to Farris David Griffin and Mildred Juanita Tate Griffin.
Mr. Griffin retired after 30 years of service from the Chevron Refinery where he worked as a Process Operator. He was a member of Caswell Springs United Methodist Church and was a Little League baseball coach in Pascagoula for many years. He loved being "on the go", and traveling. He enjoyed being outside doing yard work or sitting in the swing people-watching. Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Farris Todd Griffin, and John Edward Dunston, his brother, Lamar (Jean) Griffin, and sister, Jo (James) Anderson, and the mother of his children, Patricia Vandergrift.
Survivors are his beloved wife, Ellen Tillman Griffin, two sons, John (Kathy) Griffin, and Tim (Carol) Griffin, one daughter, Jo Ellen (Jeff) Hutchison, Sister, Kay (Bill) Isbell, and daughter-in-law, Pam Griffin. Two brothers-in-law, Jesse Michael Tillman, and Ernest Tillman. Grandchildren, Farris Casey (Powers) Griffin, Austin (Genny) Griffin, Alexandria (Chris) Annis, BreEllen (Jeffrey) Hamm, Bridgitt (Jacob) Peden, Chris (Christi) Griffin, Jennifer (Eric) Glass, Raven (Lydia) Ruiz, Waylon Tanner, and MarKey Tanner. 11 Great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Special friends, Rita Dykes, Sylvia and Frank Feazell.
Visitation will be held at Holder-Wells Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Holder-Wells Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Chad Bowen officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Jeffery Hamm, Jacob Peden, Waylon Tanner, Benny Goff, Casey Griffin, and Austin Griffin. The burial will be at Machpelah Cemetery, in Pascagoula, MS.
