Mr. Forrest Calvin Mahathy, 94, of the Forts Lake Community in Moss Point, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Pascagoula. He was born on July 19, 1929, in Kreole, Mississippi, to Marvin Clinton Mahathy and Minnie Elena Seaman Mahathy.
After retirement from International Paper Company, Mr. Mahathy spent many hours of his time woodworking. He built small churches, barns, and dog-trot houses. He loved to fish and shrimp from his Stauter-built boat. He went on 13 visits to Roatan, Honduras. Mr. Mahathy was upstanding, trustworthy, kind to everyone, and grew the best tomatoes in Forts Lake, and was loved by everyone who met him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lucille Mahathy, daughter, Charlotte Lucille Mahathy Rogers, and grandson, Johnny Lewis.
Survivors include his children, Sharon (Wayne) Clark, Cynthia "Cindy" (David) Walls, and Anthony Calvin Mahathy. Grandchildren, Craig (Lisa) Rogers, Eddie (Erin) Rogers, Scottie Rogers, Joey (Elizabeth) Rogers, Heather (Nick) Richard, Angela (Lee) Guy, Christy (James) Palmer, Chris (Mikah) Palmer, Jessica Lewis. 23 Great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Sister, Gloria Hamilton, brother, Leroy Mahathy.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS 39563. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Anthony Mahathy officiating. The burial will be at W.R. Clark Memorial Cemetery in Moss Point, MS. Serving as pallbearers are, Eddie Rogers, Justin Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Joey Rogers, Christopher Palmer, and Scottie Rogers.
