Fred Walter Habeck Jr passed away peacefully at his home on Monday July 8, 2024. Fred was born May 4th, 1953 to Fred Walter Habeck, Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Rhodes Habeck. He was 71 years old. He worked at Ingalls Shipyard for 42 years as an inside machinist. Fred was a devoted husband, father, and "Poppy". But most of all he was everyone's friend, and the kind of man that never met a stranger who would give you the shirt off his back. His love for his family and friends was never ending. Fred was a simple man who enjoyed being at his home in the country. You could catch him on the porch most days or grilling out on Sundays. He was an avid gardener and arborist, but most of all he was forever helping others out in any way he could. The community knew him as "Football Fred", because he loved the East Central Hornets. Fred could keep you smiling with his contagious personality and was the life of the party. "Poppy" was truly a genuine kind soul who was loved by so many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Walter Habeck Sr., Mother: Annie Elizabeth Rhodes Habeck, siblings: Mary Lee Bounds, Margie Brace, Myron Habeck, and David C. Habeck; father-in-law Roy A. Martin, Sr.; mother-in-law, Catherine Crane Martin; brothers-in-law Roy A. Martin Jr., Sammy Martin, Ricky Martin, Ernie Martin, and Jack Martin; and sister-in-law Lisa Martin Trusler.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife and caregiver, Janet Martin Habeck, son Jack Habeck; daughters: Cathy Habeck and Tammy (Michael) Errico; grandchildren, Garrett Harris, Malissa Habeck, Andie D'Angelo, and Presleigh Jane Errico. Sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Roy) Vice and Delores Conkin, brother; Ernest Habeck, sister Mariann Allen Habeck and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
