Mr. Garland Thomas Mabry, 88 of Moss Point, MS passed from this life March 22, 2011 in Biloxi, MS. He was born August 26, 1922 in Jackson County, MS. Mr. Mabry was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Helena. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Upon returning home from service in 1950, he founded Mabry's Grocery in Kreole. Although the business was sold in 1989 he continued to work until 2006 when his health prevented him. Mr. Mabry was preceded in death by his parents, John Garland and Lelia C. Mabry; and sister, Mattie Florence Jones. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Virginia P. Mabry of Moss Point; sons and daughters in law, David E. and Gwenda Mabry of Lucedale; Edward and Donna Mabry of Pascagoula; Steven and Helen Mabry of Helena; daughter and son in law, Pearl and Sam Lee of Biloxi; grandchildren, David L. Mabry of Lucedale and Ashley and Brad King of Moss Point; a brother, Pete C. Mabry of Kreole; and many others he held as children and grandchildren in his heart. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23rd from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Timothy Mains and Rev. J.L. Lee officiating.
