With heavy hearts, we announce that George Wesley Goff went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 9, 2025. While we are deeply saddened by his passing, his family finds comfort in the knowledge that he is now in the presence of Jesus.
George was born on January 8, 1942, in Mississippi to Dan and Audrey Goff. He held a deep love for God, his family, and the great outdoors, including fishing and hunting. He cherished family gatherings, lively parties, and fish fries, which brought joy and togetherness into his life. George dedicated many years to his career at Transocean Offshore Drilling and proudly served his country as a decorated soldier in the United States Army, receiving numerous medals for his committed service.
George was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Carey W. and Audrey B. Goff, and his siblings: Betty (Olen) Heflin, Dwight Daniel "Bobby" (Norma) Goff, Norma (Cecil) Williamson, John W. (Nita) Goff, and Karey (Mack) McDougald. He was also preceded by his daughter, Lydia Goff, and his grandchild, Ethan Berry, as well as stepchildren Rodney and Cassie Dunn.
He is survived by his devoted of 28 years wife, Peggy Goff, and a loving family that includes children: James W. "Jamie" (Toni) Goff, Gregory Dwight "Greg" (Kim) Goff, Zera Clarissa "Cayce" (Darin) Goff Matthews, Bo (Nancy) Dunn, Carma (Buddy) Burt, Timmy Dunn, Kathleen (Joe) Nicholson, and Amy (Lance) Thompson. George's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Nathan W. (Hannah) Goff, Jordan (Blake) Roberts, Emily (Stone) Tolbert, Reed Matthews, Riley Matthews, Jake Rouse, Justin Rouse, Heather Patrick, Lil' Rod Dunn, McKenzie Dunn, Jennica Finch, Hayden Hendon, Bailee Hendon, Macee Dunn, Maddox Dunn, Aaron Nicholson, Noah Nicholson, Colin Nicholson, Chase Nyman, Gage Nyman, Dawson Thompson, Maddie Windham, and Wesley Windham. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Winston W. Goff, Drew Anna Tolbert, along with nine step-great-grandchildren, and a host of close family and friends. A special mention goes to his cousin Lamar Broadus, who he regarded as a brother, as well as cherished friends from The Smith Family and The Belcher Family, and dear friends Marvin Dean and Jimmy Boren.
A visitation in George's honor will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Big Point Methodist Church, located at 7534 Methodist Church Road, Moss Point, MS. The Funeral Service will follow immediately after the visitation, culminating with a Committal Service.
Pallbearers will include: Hayden Hendon, Bailee Hendon, Aaron Nicholson, Chase Nyman, Nathan Goff, Maddox Dunn, and Woodie Goff, honorary pallbearers: Harold Phelger and Prentiss Smith.
