Obituary

Ms Georgia Carney Mansfield of Pascagoula, MS passed from this life on Monday, May 25, 2020 at the home she loved in Pascagoula, MS. She was born in Jayess, MS to H.P. and Eunice Carney. Georgia was married to her loving husband Joseph R. Mansfield for 37 years. And was fortuned later in life to have a special friend in Ray B. Ford. Georgia's professional career involved working for International Paper, Singing River Hospital, Dr. Perry Hockaday and eventually retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS.
She was a mother to all, a friend, an aunt, an advisor, and most of all a great mother to her children. A strong & direct person, real, bold, opinionated, driven, hardworking, but most of all, she had a very kind, giving, and loving heart. Georgia enjoyed entertaining her family and friends and always loved the opportunity to host a party. One her most joyous times over the last few years was having family and friends stop by to enjoy the sunset from her patio. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, playing bridge with friends, and most of all her family get togethers. One of her other great joys was meeting monthly with her high school classmates and loved hosting their class reunion at her home.
Georgia was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Mansfield, her loving friend Ray Ford, and her brother Bobby G. Carney. Survivors include her children Joseph Roth Mansfield, Jr of Pascagoula and JoLynda Daugherty (Sam Entrican) of Big Point, MS, sister Dorothy Green of Wade, MS, Harold (Trudy) Carney of Moss Point, MS and Mike Carney (Janice) of Moss Point, MS. Faux daughters Dee Ehlers Harris of Moss Point, MS and Rhonda Ehlers Shook of Moss Point, MS. Grandchildren Michael (Jenny) Daugherty of Granbury, TX, J. R. Daugherty of Fort Worth, TX, Katie Mansfield of Dallas, TX, Karlee Mansfield of Granbury, TX, Jonathan Mansfield of Pascagoula, MS and Joey Mansfield (Megan) of San Antonio, TX. Great Grandchildren Ari and James Daugherty of Granbury, TX and Jonathan, Jacob, Rebecca, Jane, Kaitlyn, and James Mansfield of San Antonio, TX and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The visitation will be Monday, June 1, 2020 at Our Lady of Victories Church, 503 Convent Ave Pascagoula, MS from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with a full mass of Christian Burial following the visitation. The graveside service will be at Machpelah Cemetery after the mass. The services will observe the guidelines around social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pallbearers for the service are Reggie Carney, Thomas Hinkle, Paul Hans, Bill Burns, Jimmy Ely, and Joey Vice. Friends and family are welcome to come by her home afterwards for a celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, Georgia requested donations be made to St. Joseph's Church P. O. Box 8549 Moss Point, MS 39562.
