We gather to celebrate the life of Gloria Lafay Thornhill, who, at the age of 88, peacefully departed this world at her home in Vancleave, Mississippi, on March 8, 2025.


Gloria was born on July 29, 1936, in Columbia, Mississippi, to William and Wilma Lena Morgan. She found immense joy when she married Elzey Thornhill, her soulmate, on March 31, 1956, in Columbia, MS. Gloria was not only a devoted member of the Assembly of God faith but also a dedicated employee at the East Central cafeteria in Hurley, MS. Her passions included nurturing her garden, creating delicious meals, and spending relaxing days fishing on the Escatawpa River with Elzey. However, nothing brought her more happiness than the time she cherished with her beloved grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzey Thornhill, and her dear brother, Herman Morgan, both of whom she missed deeply.


Gloria leaves behind her two loving daughters, Regina Vance and Glynis Jo Young of Bay Minette, AL; her son, William Paul Thornhill of Vancleave, MS; her cherished granddaughters, Shellie Kathleen Bean of Mobile, AL, Grace Rachelle Young of Pensacola, FL, and Leslie Anne Nguyen of Lucedale, MS; her grandson, Justin Cole Thornhill of Pensacola, FL; and her granddaughter, Shelbie Lynn Hart of Biloxi, MS. Additionally, she is survived by four precious great-grandchildren: Anthony Thornhill, Landon Thornhill, both of Biloxi, MS, Colton Bean of Mobile, AL, and Oliver Nguyen of Lucedale, MS, who will carry on her legacy of love.


The family invites you to join them for visitation on March 12,2025 from 12 PM to 2 PM at Holder Wells Coastal Chapel, located at 12800 Hwy 613 Moss Point, MS 39563.


During this challenging time, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Kristy Meek for her compassionate care and unwavering support, which has meant so much to them. Together, we remember and honor Gloria, whose love and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.
