Mrs. Helen Lorena Stewart, age 98 went home to be with her Heavenly Father on May 19,2012. Mrs. Stewart, born January 12, 1914 had been a resident of Moss Point (Kreole), MS most of her life. For the past seven years she had lived in Hurley at "Mama's Place." Mrs. Stewart, who was lovingly called "Mama" by her children and ''Nannie'' by her grandchildren was a precious Christian who was devoted to her family and friends and was loved deeply by all who knew her. Her strong faith in Christ was evident when you were in her presence. In the years she spent on earth she touched the lives and hearts of countless people. A selfless, loving, woman, Mrs. Stewart was known for her acts of kindness and generosity to all. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, She was a talented musician who loved to play the guitar and piano. Mrs. Stewart was the oldest person, both in age and church membership, at New Horizon Ministries (formerly Evangel Temple). She served in numerous ministry capacities for her Lord and Savior. Her favorite areas of service were teaching children and working in the nursery, Even after her health prevented her from attending church she continued to be a witness and serve Christ through her loving spirit and positive attitude of encouragement. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, William Riley Stewart, daughters, Laura Emma Stewart and Brenda Kay Parker, son David Lamar Stewart, and many other loved ones. She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Stringer of Lucedale, Betty (Charles) Wolverton of Moss Point, William L. (Jean) Stewart and Greta (Russell) Gardner of Wade, Helen Marie Davis and Flora Mae (Buck) Bond of Hurley, Rita (Guy) Robinson of Vancleave, Riley (Lisa) Stewart of Cabot, AK and Dianne (Ernie) Denmark of Pascagoula. "Nannie" is also survived by 36 Grandchildren, 72 Great Grandchildren and 37 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of other relatives. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22 at New Horizon Ministries Hwy 63, Moss Point from 6:00pm until 8:00 p.m. Service will be at New Horizons Wednesday, May 23 at 10 am with the Rev's. Don Edeker and Anthony Cole officiating. Friends may call from 9:30am until service time. Interment will be at Orange Grove Cemetery in Moss Point, MS. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tim Stringer, Jeff Wolverton, Billy Stewart, Mark Bond, Troy Williams, and Parish Davis; Chris Stewart, Alex Gardner, Matt Parker and Dustin Parker. Mrs. Stewart's family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Mrs. Janet Habeck and her staff of care givers at Mama's Place, and Southern Care Hospice. Their tender care and love for our precious mother will never be forgotten.
