Izettie B. Carney 97, of Pascagoula, Ms went home to be with Jesus on January 20, 2022 in
Pascagoula. "Mama Carney" as she was known, was born in Lawrence County, MS on March
5, 1924 to Connie and Sarah Brister.
She was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Family Life Church in Jackson
County. She enjoyed spending time with her family and church family and was devoted to both.
She cherished simple things such as loved ones popping by for a cup of coffee while laughing
and reminiscing. In years past, she also enjoyed sewing and preparing canned goods from her
and her husband's gardens as well as attending camp meetings and revivals . Church was her
favorite place to be and as much as she cherished her loved ones here with her, she looked
forward to going home to be with her Lord and Savior. We rejoice in knowing she is filled with
everlasting Joy to be reunited with her beloved "Bill"; in the presence of our Jesus; singing and
praising His holy name. As she often stated, she knew "nobody that had been as blessed" as
she was. With a grateful heart, "Her last breath here on Earth was her first in Eternity".
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard "Bill" Carney, her parents Connie and Sarah
Brister, her siblings Azemer Coon, Joyce Honea, Ervin Brister and Clayton Brister, Sr, her
sons-in-law Charles Havis and Charles Caple, great granddaughter Lana Shay Havis, as well
as, her husband's parents and siblings.
She is survived by her daughters Pearlene Caple and Connie Faye Havis, her sister Connie
Mae Clark. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 16 great
great grandchildren. other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday January 29, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Family Life Church
Hwy 63 Moss Point, MS. The funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm from the church sanctuary.
Rev. Archie Holley will be officiating. Pallbearers will be great grandsons, Brandon Havis, Jarad
Havis, Devin Havis, Gavin Havis, Mason Thompson, Maddox Thompson, Chandler Thompson,
Clayton Hicks. Honorary Pallbearers Myles Havis, Dane Hicks, Maverick Johnson and Rhett
Johnson. Burial will follow in Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point.
Due to Covid-10 Mask and Social Distancing will be required at the church and at the graveside services at the cemetery.
