James Eual Adkison entered into heaven on May 7, 2024 while surrounded by his family and dear friends. Eual was born on March 13, 1940 to the late Ruben Vinson Adkison and Frances Goff Adkison in Pascagoula, MS. He graduated from Wade High School in 1958. Several years later, Eual married his wife of 60 years, Elva Eloise Parker, in October 1963. At 18 years old, he went to work at Ingall's Shipbuilding as a welder until he retired after 42 years of service. When not working at the shipyard, Eual spent most of his time tending to the family farm, hunting, and fishing. Eual was an active member of Caswell Springs Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and administrative board member for many years.
Eual is preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie T. Adkison, sister Elaine Parker, father and mother-in-law, Robin and Etoile Parker, and brother-in-law, Larry Davis. He is survived by his wife Eloise, son Robin Vinson (Deonna) Adkison, daughters Stephanie Adkison and Jennie (Jody) Goff, grandchildren Corey (Lindsey) Adkison, Jessie Dale, Sara Dale, Samuel Goff, Lilly Adkison, and Parker Goff (Makenzie Miles), great-grandchildren Ava and Ivey Milton and Corie Rayne Adkison, brothers Terry (Beverly) Adkison and Winfred "Buddy" Goff, sister-in-laws Irene Adkison and Carolyn Davis, brother-in-laws Dobbin Parker and Elton (Rhonda) Parker, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Visitations will be held at Holder and Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS from 4pm-7pm on Sunday, May 12, and at Caswell Springs Methodist Church beginning at 10 am on Monday, May 13. The funeral service will begin at 11 am on Monday, May 13 with Bro. Bobby Morris officiating, assisted by Bill Wilkerson. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with pallbearers consisting of his grandsons Corey, Jesse, Samuel, and Parker and nephews, Burt Adkison and Shane Parker. The honorary pallbearers are Elton Parker and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Caswell Springs Methodist Church Debt Fund or Salem Methodist Campground Association.
