James M. "Jimmy" Ory, 74, of Pascagoula, MS passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.
Mr. Ory was born on October 16, 1946, in Bath, Maine. He was a graduate of Moss Point High School and was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding for 42 years. After his retirement he enjoyed helping his good buddy, Tim, at the car wash.
Mr. Ory, more affectionately known as Pappy by many, was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed sharing life stories with his grandchildren, dancing all night with his friends, and sparking conversation with anyone and everyone who crossed his path. He took great pride in his daily hobbies of yard work, recycling, cleaning coins and napping. Not a day went by that he could not be found lounging on the couch with a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream watching a Saints football game or Gunsmoke re-runs. His spirited personality will forever be remembered by all that knew him. His daily routine consisted of numerous phone calls checking on each of his daughters and requesting specific tasks from his grandchildren. One of his most favorite past-times was attending weekly community music and dancing events where he enjoyed catching up with old friends.
He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church and served as deacon for many years. He truly loved his church family and worshipping with his friends and family.
Mr. Ory is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bettye Ann Pell Ory; his parents, Ernest Ory, Sr. and Caroline (Susie) Ory; brother, Ernest (Butch) Ory, Jr.; sister, Judith Schaefer; father and mother-in-law, Peyton and Anna Mae Pell; and son-in-law's, Steven T. Ard, and Steven S. Jordan.
Mr. Ory is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Larry) Kennedy; Melinda (Scott) Eckert, Michelle Jordan, and Amanda (Jesse) Luc; seven grandchildren, Jaycie Finch, Madeline (Jacob) Bosarge, Jordan Eckert, Morgandy Ard, Grayson Ard, Drake Luc and Anna Jae Luc; sister, Carol McAndrew; brother, Steve (Vicki) Ory; brother-in-law, Robert Pell; sister-in-law, Kathy Ory, and step-mother, Frances Mansfield Ory, nieces, nephews, Arlington Baptist Church family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
