Obituary

Mr. James Harold Smith, 88 of Wilmer, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023
at his home in Wilmer. He was born on May 4, 1935, in Sandy Hook, Mississippi to James Harrison and Inez Smith.
Mr. Smith was a kind-hearted and gentle person and would do anything for anyone.
He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, and retired from The International Paper Company as a welder.
He loved to tinker with cars and motors. He enjoyed gardening, bluegrass music, NASCAR, and riding on his tractor. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Dianne Smith Watts, and four brothers.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Edna Garrison Smith, one son, Mike (Bonnie) Smith, one daughter, Judy (Terry) Long. 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Patricia (Murray) Hillman, and one brother, Rodney (Jeannette) Smith.
Visitation for Mr. Smith will be held Monday, May 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS 39563 The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Newport and Rev. Terry Long officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be at Serene Memorial Gardens 12800 Hwy 613 Moss Point, MS 39562.
