Jazie Nita Greene Torjusen passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023. Jazie was born to L.H. and Nona Greene in Creole, Mississippi on December 11, 1931.
Jazie was an avid collector of antiques and was the owner of Porthole Antiques for fifteen years. In addition to antique collecting, Jazie was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Living on the water brought Jazie a tremendous amount of joy and she would often make wonderful memories with her children and grandchildren on frequent beach trips to Navarre Beach. She was a true lover of all things nautical. Although the water brought her much happiness, it was the love for her family that was her greatest treasure. She was a beacon for her family and was the definition of unconditional love for everyone.
Jazie is preceded in death by her husband Captain Charles T. Torjusen Jr. of 49 years; her sisters, Bethel Robertson, Ellen "Bobby" Wilks, Emma Lee Alexander, and Joyce Lindsey Jones.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mike (Tahnya) Torjusen, Phil (Georgette) Torjusen, Randy Torjusen, David Torjusen, and Richard Torjusen; Grandchildren, Reagan Torjusen, Collier (Patrick) Peavy, Philip Torjusen Jr., Jazie (Gage) Miles, George Torjusen, Magon (Michael) Litton, Jenna (Shane) Baber, Micah (Paul) Gatchell, Ashley (Phil) Yoos, Charlie Torjusen, Carlye (Bentley Brady) Torjusen, and Hunter Torjusen; Sisters, Betty Jo Boutwell and Linda Bullock along with fourteen great grandkids.
The Torjusen family would like to thank the staff of We Care Hospice in Moss Point, Mississippi for the kindness and compassion they displayed to our loving mother and grandmother during this difficult time.
The visitation for Jazie will be held on June 16, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula. The funeral service will follow at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Matt Mitchell officiating. Internment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Pascagoula, Mississippi with Hunter Torjusen, Hank Torjusen, Sammy Abbey, George Torjusen, Philip Torjusen Jr., and Charlie Torjusen serving as pallbearers and Greg Hust and Stevens Hollister serving as honorary pallbearers.
