Obituary

Jeanette Landrum Goldman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7 at her cozy home in Moss Point, Mississippi, surrounded by her greatest joys in life - her children: Sandra, Sheila, and Perry. She was 87 years old.
Born on February 28, 1938, in Laurel, Mississippi, Jeanette grew up surrounded by a large, close-knit family. She carried the values of strength, warmth, and resilience with her throughout her life - qualities that deeply shaped her character and inspired those around her.
Affectionately known as "Mawmaw" by her grandchildren, Jeanette's life was rooted in love, laughter, and simple pleasures. She was a woman of deep devotion - to her family, her faith, and her community. As a substitute teacher in the East Central schools, she was cherished by students and staff alike. So beloved was she that she'd often receive calls from all three campuses - elementary, middle, and high school - each hoping she'd come in that day. With a laugh and her signature wit, she'd say, "I already promised the elementary school my time." She loved children deeply and poured her heart into every classroom she entered.
Jeanette also found peace and joy on the water. She and her late husband, Ray, shared a passion for fishing. Together, they would often get lost on the river for hours - casting their reels, telling stories, and soaking in the slow, steady rhythm of the boat as it rocked beneath them. Those quiet river days were among her happiest.
She'll be remembered, too, by the way her home smelled - like homemade fried chicken and the best banana pudding you've ever had. Jeanette had a way of making people feel at home, of turning ordinary moments into lasting memories.
Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, who will forever boast about their Mawmaw's unshakable strength, her feisty spirit, and her quiet courage. She was the backbone of her family, the keeper of stories, and the steady, loving hand that guided them all.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ray Goldman; her parents, James and Matilda Landrum; her sister, Geneva Landrum Evans; and her brothers: JW, Ray, Howard, Elton, and Larry Landrum.
She is survived by her loving sister, Linda (Jim) Strother; her children: Perry Goldman (Brittney Diaz,) Sheila (Gary) Turner, and Sandra (Lloyd) Holston; and her cherished grandchildren: Toni (Eric) Camp, Alaina (Alfredo) Grey, Caleb (Dara) Turner, Ryan (Amy) Goldman, Alison Holston (Camilo Molina) and Amber Goldman.
As well as her great-grandchildren: Milo, Cayden, Ethan, Colt, Elizabeth, Hunter, Leilyn, Ezra and Kaymen.
We rejoice and take comfort in the fact that she's now truly home with our Heavenly Father. Jeanette's love, like the smell of fried chicken in the kitchen or the memory of a quiet boat ride, will linger in the hearts of those who knew her. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
