Jeffrey Lynn Ellis passed away in his residence in Jackson County, Mississippi, on April 26, 2026. He was 59 years old.

The eldest son of the late Linwood Ellis and Margaret Parish Ellis, he grew up in Pascagoula and graduated from Pascagoula High School. He was a talented, left-handed pitcher, and received baseball scholarships at Faulkner State Junior College and later at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He graduated from Mississippi College School of Law in 1998 after earning a Juris Doctor degree.

After his admission to the Mississippi Bar, his first job as an attorney was his service as a law clerk at the Mississippi Supreme Court in the chambers of then-Justice William L. Waller, Jr. Following his clerkship, he practiced law with his mother, Margaret Ellis, at Kitchens & Ellis law firm in Jackson and he became an accomplished litigation attorney. His legal career included his work as assistant district attorney in Mississippi's 19th Circuit Court District. Mr. Ellis was a life member of the Mississippi Association for Justice, and he was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Jeffrey Lynn Ellis is survived by his children, Ryan Merritte Ellis and his wife Taylor, of Forney, Texas, and by Bailey Elizabeth Ellis Cox and her husband, Riley, of Fairhope, Alabama. His descendants include two grandchildren Parker Ellis and Baker Cox. He is also survived by his loving brother, James Edgar Ellis and his wife Tracy, along with their two children, Adyson and Easton of Columbus, Ohio, along with other loving family members.

A celebration of life honoring Jeffrey will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Pascagoula Country Club. All are welcome to attend.
