Mr. Jerry Charles McPhail, 89, of Pascagoula earned his heavenly home with Jesus on June 22, 2025. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, Paw Paw and friend to many. Jerry was a man who placed God first in his life and instilled that strength in his family and beyond.
Jerry was born on April 3, 1936 in Neshoba County, MS and moved to Pascagoula with his family when he was in high school. He met and married his wife Bobbie in 1957 and they made their home in Pascagoula. Jerry worked at Ingalls for several years as a machinist before deciding to change careers and become a truck driver where he found great fulfillment for over fifty years. Jerry was known for his strong work ethic, mentoring and dedication to his industry. He was a long time member of the Eastlawn United Methodist Church family in Pascagoula, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Bobbie Dickerson McPhail, his parents James Roger and Vera Lee (Bridges) McPhail, his brothers Lamar Gene McPhail and Dr. James H. McPhail, his father and mother-in-law L.L. and Loise (Middleton) Dickerson, sisters-in-law Patricia Dyer McPhail, Cora Lee Gregory, Isabelle Gregory and Annis Ruth May, and brothers-in-law Billy F. Dickerson, Haskel (Dick) Dickerson and Bobby May.
Left to cherish Jerry's memory are his children, Lori Ann (Steven) Rowson of Baton Rouge, LA and Lance C. (Brandi) McPhail of St. Amant, LA, his grandchildren Loren Rowson, Hayden McPhail and Ainsley McPhail, his great-grandchild Philip Ray, his sisters-in-law Nelda Dickerson of Bay Springs, MS and Lea Etta Ables of Ocean Springs, MS. Jerry also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and numerous dear friends.
The family would like to thank Jerry's wonderful and loving caregiver Christine Halford. Also a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Services and their caring and compassionate staff.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00am at Eastlawn United Methodist Church in Pascagoula, MS with visitation prior to the service beginning at 9:30am. Entombment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park, Pascagoula, MS. Pallbearers will be Barry McPhail, Brian McPhail, Steven McPhail, Kent McPhail, Hayden McPhail and Matthew Freeny.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations to a charity of your choice.
