Obituary

John Charles (Jack) Dickinson died at his home on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the age of 90. He was born on March 12, 1924 in Detroit Michigan to Frederick W. Dickinson and Dawn Moran Dickinson.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, and of Mensa and Intertel organizations for intelligence. He achieved status as a Master Gardener. He loved Bonsai Trees.
He was a WWII veteran. He served his country with pride and retired from the Army Reserve, where he achieved the rank of Command Sgt. Major. He matriculated at Fordham University in New York, NY, Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois and received his Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1974. He was an artist and worked with oils, acrylics, watercolor and charcoal, wood and stone carvings, and later in life he enjoyed scratch art. He was active in the United Way, Boy Scouts of America, American Legion and VFW. He worked for the Mississippi Employment Agency and retired from the office of Economic Opportunity in Atlanta, GA. He enjoyed going for rides through the country side, he loved his family, his community and his country and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother; Fred Dickinson and a sister; Jane Dickinson Sample.
He is survived by his seven children, which he always said was his great accomplishments, Michael Merrit Dickinson (Lisa), Mary Louise Dickinson, Jr., Jonathan Mark Dickinson, Thomas Edward Dickinson, Jaqueline Elizabeth Dickinson McAdams, Roger Edmund (Stephanie) Dickinson and Timothy Moran Dickinson, brother; Robert (Bob) Dickinson, and his ex wife; Mary M. Dickinson, as well as his grandchildren; Dana(Richard) Wagner Wilson, Micah Gabriel Backer, John (Whitney) Derek McAdams, Aaron (Chelsea) Dustin McAdams, Jessica Catherine McAdams, Allison (Jacob) Dickinson Sanders, David Charles Dickinson, William John Dickinson, Kenneth Milburn Dickinson, Nicholas Blair Dickinson, and his great grandchildren; John Isaac McAdams, Emily Michele McAdams, , Griffin Wyatt McAdams, Robert Michael Dickinson Daisy Marie Sanders, and Aaron Dustin McAdams, Jr., many nieces, nephews friends and other relatives.
A Memorial Service celebration will be held at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.
