Mr. John Morie, Jr., 96 of the Franklin Creek Community in Moss Point, Mississippi passed into Eternal Life on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his home in Moss Point.
He was born to John Morie, Sr., and Mittie Trehern Morie on December 13, 1927, in Jackson County, Mississippi.
John was a lifelong resident of the Franklin Creek Community. He retired from the International Paper Company after 44 years of service. He was a Christian and attended Grand Bay Church of God. He was an avid gardener and grew the best tomatoes around! He also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He loved traveling and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his large family.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Willie Morie, former wife, Marie Morie, one son, Don Erwin Morie, son-in-law, Jim Clark, daughter-in-law, Connie Morie, and siblings, Otis, Creasy, Nettie, Naomi, James "J.C", and Joseph.
Survivors include his children, John V. (Nell) Morie, Linda Faye (John) Cannon, Timmie Morie, Judy Clark, Kathy (Vince) Fickling, Mary (Bruce) Reece, Karen Morie, Eddie (Lee) Corley, Erich (Carol) Corley, Don Corley, and Gerri Cooper (Dennis) Weaver. Grandchildren, Amy Sheree (Scott) Key, Melody Rose (Stacey) Parker, Heather Alane (Ashton) Clark, Magan Marie (Ilyzar)) Flores, Lindsey (James) Darnell, Leslie (Harrigan) Clay, Kelli Cannon, Marrisa Reece, Roxanne Reece, Kimberly J. (BJ) McDonald, Robin J. (Eric) Davis, Krista L. (Rusty) Johnson, Charles Wesley (Melissa) Ross, Jessica Nicole (Chase) Brown, and Brittany A. (Trey) Charlton, Lucus Finkling, Lance (Stella) Fickling, Ashley (Gilbert) Verrett, Cherry Corley, Timmy Corley, Zane Corley, Richard (Lauren) Cooper, Melanie (Blair) Johnson, Vinicky (Ralph) Bryant, Shannon (Lora) Melton, and Erika (Jon) Reynolds. 40 great-grandchildren and 26 Great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held Sunday, May 5th from 1 p.m. until service time at 3 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS. 39563, with Rev. Rusty Johnson and Rev. Bruce Reece officiating. The burial will be at Forts Lake Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ashton Clark, Ily Flores, Charles Wesley Ross, Trey Charlton, Chase Brown, and Nathan Davis.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Light for the care, love, kindness, and guidance they provided for our father. Also, a special thank you to Sonya Adkins and Rani Hartman for their love and compassionate care for him during his last weeks.
