John F Sinquefield Sr., age 80, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Pascagoula, Mississippi surrounded by his family and loved ones.
John was born January 11, 1945 in Pascagoula, Mississippi, son of Andrew and Elizabeth Sinquefield. He was a graduate of Pascagoula High School in 1963, and he remained a lifelong resident of the community. During and following high school, John worked part-time at Wayne Lees for many years. On July 2, 1966, he married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Hamilton, at Finnish Luthern Church in Kreole, Mississippi. John and Joyce were married for 59 wonderful years. He had been employed as a Quality Assurance Superintendent at Ingalls Shipbuilding, where he worked for 50 years, before retiring at age 70. John was accused of using more red ink than any one else in the quality assurance department during his time at Ingalls. He loved his job, and he enjoyed his longtime service there.
During his younger years, John loved bowling on many different leagues with his close friends. He also enjoyed working outside around the house and at the church. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, making sure to always have gifts wrapped and pancakes prepared on Christmas morning. You could always catch him watching westerns. He was a longtime member of Eastlawn Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Sinquefield and sister Bobbie Pardue.
Left to cherish their memories are his wife, Joyce Ann Sinquefield. Three children, daughter, Beth (Rick) Bradley, son, John (Tammy) Sinquefield Jr., and daughter, Nicole (Kevin) Self. Eight grandchildren, Rick (Kayla) Bradley Jr., Kristi (Josh) Nelson, Hannah Foster, Madison (Peyton) Lundy, Makyla Foster, Justin Sinquefield, Karlie Self and Allyson Sinquefield. Nine great grandchildren, Hunter Averett, Caroline Bradley, Maci Bradley, Emmy-Kait Hayes, Annie Bradley, Noah Foster, Lacie Nelson, Colson Smith, Addie Nelson, soon to be Baby Boy Nelson. Sister, Virginia Sinquefield, brother-in-law, Bill Pardue and nephew, Billy Pardue. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be at Eastlawn Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS on Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow. Graveside service will be held at Finnish Lutheran Church Cemetery in Moss Point, MS after the conclusion the funeral service. Rev. Cornel Bucaciue and Rev. Danny Adams officiating.
John Sinquefield Jr., Justin Sinquefield, Kevin Self, Rick Bradley Jr., Josh Nelson, Peyton Lundy and Hunter Averett will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Eastlawn Baptist Church.
