With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph "Mike" Michael Bourgeois, age 49, of Moss Point, Mississippi, who left this world peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Born, December 31, 1975, Mike was the beloved son of Kay Bourgeois and the late Charles Raymond Bourgeois Sr. He carried a vibrant spirit and a generous heart that touched everyone who knew him. Mike had a knack for bringing light into any room, whether through his work as an electrician or behind the bar as a bartender, where his laughter was as contagious as his smile. But his true joy was found outdoors, fishing and crabbing right in his own backyard. Those who knew him well will remember his love for adventure, exploring the mountains, basking on Florida's beaches, and taking spontaneous road trips with his partner, Danny. Mike will be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his partner of 27 years, Danny Breland, whose bond was a testament to true love and partnership.
Mike was a passionate cook who loved experimenting in the kitchen, always serving up dishes infused with creativity and love. His heart was as big as his love for animals, caring deeply for his six rescued fur babies: Rocky, Buddy, Hercules, Apollo, Buster, and Ripley. We find comfort knowing he is now reunited with his cherished pets who crossed over before him: Studly, Girl, Elizabeth, and others undoubtedly spoiling them in doggy heaven.
He is survived by his loving mother, Kay Bourgeois; his partner, Danny Breland; his brothers, Charles Ryan Bourgeois (Tina), Randall Bourgeois (Cortney), and Charles Bourgeois Jr. (Layken); his brother-in-law, Rick Breland; his aunt and godmother, Diane Perkins, aunt Wanda, aunt Madelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike's legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. In honor of his compassionate heart for animals, the family kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Jackson County Animal Shelter at 4400 Audubon Ln, Gautier, MS 39553. Please mention that your donation is in memory of Mike, who loved every creature great and small.
