It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Joseph Grimes, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born in Lebanon, Missouri, on August 8, 1934, to James D. Grimes and Susan Barber Grimes, Joseph's life was marked by steadfast love and dedication to his family.
Joseph is preceded in death by his wife, Eliska V. Grimes; parents, James and Susan Grimes; daughter, Joanne Lassiter; grandson, Michael Joseph Grimes; and his sisters, Peggy Bohnstedt and Karen Eytcheson.
He is survived by his loving children, Michael Scott Grimes and Shari K. Brewer, along with ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.
Joseph's life was defined by service, dedication, and a zest for living. After serving with distinction in the Air Force for 21 years, including participation in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he retired with pride. He was a valued member of the Knights of Columbus and found great happiness in bowling, fishing, and any pursuit that allowed him to be with his grandchildren. Joseph cherished simple pleasures-watching classic westerns, listening to country music, tending to his garden, and nurturing his passion for vermiculture. His enthusiasm for sports, cooking, and even bartending reflected a spirit eager to embrace life and share joy with those around him.
Joseph's kindness, generosity, and unwavering integrity left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Joseph's memory by supporting the Blind Veterans Association, a cause that reflects his enduring spirit.
