Joseph Edd Rockwell, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in Moss Point, Mississippi. He was born on March 24, 1935, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and throughout his life, he carried the values and traditions rooted in his Southern heritage.

Joseph was the cherished son of the late Joseph F. Rockwell and Florrie Mae Rockwell. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of seventy-one years, Esther Rockwell. Their loving partnership and shared journey remain an enduring testament to devotion and family. He is also preceded in death by his brother Carroll (Annell) Rockwell.

Joseph’s memory lives on in the hearts of his children: his devoted daughter, Lorie (William) McLelland, and his treasured sons, Timothy (Jeanie) Rockwell and Brian (Doreen) Rockwell. He was a proud grandfather to Rachel (Sean) Givens, Sheena Daffron, Chase (April) Rockwell, and Tirena (Squeeky) Anderson, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Joseph also leaves behind six beloved great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews, whose lives have been enriched by his affection, wisdom, and enduring example.

Throughout his ninety-one years, Joseph touched many with his kindness, strength, and integrity. He approached life with resolve and deep compassion, supporting his family through all of life’s trials and joys. A source of wisdom, he was always ready with words of encouragement or a listening ear, shaping the lives of those around him by his presence alone.

Though his journey on this earth has come to a close, Joseph Edd Rockwell’s legacy of love and dedication to his family will be cherished forever by all who had the good fortune to know him. His spirit endures in the many memories shared and, in the bonds, he so carefully nurtured across generations.

Joseph retired after forty-one years from International Paper Company where he worked as a maintenance foreman. He was also a proud member of the Century Club and of the Moss Point, Mississippi Masons. Jospeh and his wife were devoted members of Three Rivers Assembly of God. outside of his work Joseph enjoyed hunting, traveling, camping, woodworking, and fishing. He cherished his times spent coaching his son's baseball teams. Later in life he enjoyed eating his ice-cream and shrimp which he would never turn down. 

In remembering Joseph, the family asks that his friends and loved ones hold close the lessons of kindness, loyalty, and humility that he embodied every day. His life will be honored and celebrated as his influence continues to guide the family and friends he loved so dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for both Esther and Joseph in the next coming weeks and will be announced.
