Dr. Julius Sisto Bosco of Pascagoula Mississippi passed away peacefully on the Morning of December 31, 2022, at the age of 93. He was the fourth child of Italian immigrants from Gioia Del Colle, Giuseppe Bosco, and Angela DeBenedictus Bosco. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Ellen VanCourt Bosco, brother Frank Bosco, and sisters Lena Manchesian and Emma Duco Laird and stepmother Margaret Bosco.
He was born on April 6, 1929, in the Bronx, New York. He attended Fordham University and New York Medical College. After medical school, he was a Captain in the USAF stationed at Keesler Air Force Base where he met his wife, Ellen. They married and he performed an Ob-Gyn residency at Charity Hospital New Orleans. They then located to Pascagoula, MS where he was the first board-certified OB-GYN at Singing River Hospital. He practiced there for 50 years and delivered close to 10,000 babies.
In his spare time, he was an avid flounder fisherman on the Pascagoula river and loved grouper fishing at his second home in Fort Pierce, Florida. He became a black belt in Shodokan karate at the age of 60 years old. He also enjoyed traveling to Italy where his parents were born and raised. Despite being so busy, he was always there for important moments of his family's life as a devoted father.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. Julius (Donna) Bosco, Jr., Joseph (Susan) Bosco, and John (JoAnna) Bosco; His grandchildren Julius (Kayla) Bosco III, Nicholas (Haley) Bosco, John Frank Bosco, Jr. And Gina Bosco; great-grandchildren Julius Bosco IV, Sawyer Bosco, Pierce Bosco, and Mary Catherine Bosco; and a sister Pearl Bosco Cunniffe.
There will be a celebration of life on January 5 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula with visitation from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm and mass at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Machpelah cemetery in Pascagoula.
Pallbearers will be Julius Bosco III, Nicolas "Nick" Bosco, John Frank Bosco, Steve Novak, Honorable Keith Miller and Dan Northrop Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. The family is forever grateful to the entire staff of The Light House in Ocean Springs, MS, and The Singing River Hospice Of Light.
