Katherine Dale Blades was born on July 22, 1931 in Collins, MS to Albert and Olivia Grantham. She went home to be with the Lord at age 93 on August 2, 2024 in Mobile, AL.

After graduating college at the University of Southern MS, Katherine began a wonderful and enjoyable career teaching elementary school. This led her to Moss Point, MS where she met and was married to J.D. Blades for 45 years, raising two daughters, Mary and Rachel.

One of her greatest joys in life was cooking and baking for her family, church family, and friends. She wanted to know your favorite dessert so she could prepare it for a special occasion which could be any day. She adored her two grandsons and enjoyed anything they did; cheering them on in every sport and encouraging them in every way.

Katherine was an active member of three churches during her life and was encouraged in her walk with the Lord by each. She was raised as a child in Salem Baptist Church in Collins, MS, a long time member of First Baptist Church in Moss Point, MS, and Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. Her church family was so precious to her and she served the Lord and others faithfully.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Blades; her parents; her brothers, A.G. Grantham, Roger Grantham, and Charles Grantham; her sister, Rachel King; her sisters-in-law, Helen Grantham, Juanita Grantham, and Barbara Grantham.

She is survived by her daughter Mary and husband Jeff Stauter; daughter Rachel Blades; sister, Janie Laetare; grandsons Reid (Claire) Stauter and Corbin Stauter; sister-in-law Francis Blades, and many precious nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 11:00 am with a visitation at 10:00 am at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, AL.
